Lot 1106 Iver Johnson Safety Automatic Hammerless .38 S&W

#D62376 The 'Second Model' of the Safety Automatic Hammerless pistol produced between 1896-1908. An integral safety lever on the trigger, and a switch to a new double post latch deviates this model from the first model. This break top revolver features a nickel finish, 6" ribbed barrel, fixed blade front sight, notched latch rear sight, five-round fluted cylinder, double action only, smooth curved trigger, internal hammer, smooth grip straps, cylinder star ejector, and checkered black hard rubber "Owls Head" grips. The original nickel finish retained is approximately 60% showing most of the losses on the grip straps, cylinder, trigger guard, trigger, and on the frame above the grips. Metal displays rust and patina, and there are a couple of small dents on the edges. The action is needs repair, the cylinder threads do not engage with the barrel threads (entire cylinder moves when ejecting), and the cylinder lock-up is loose. The bore shows some erosion and rust, but has strong rifling, and the cylinder chambers are good. The plastic grips are in good condition with a couple of chips, and minor blemishes.
Condition is NRA Fair.
